14th of August 2010 - Mt P and Mt Wheatley

After hearing about the great turns James Morrow had on Oz BC yesterday I had to see how the line I skied with Tony and Scruff on Saturday (Snow Snake) had fared from the last snowfall. I was treated to another great sunrise whilst doing my field work. The groomers in Perisher were in good condition, but we still need some more snow to complete the cover. Off piste inbounds was either wind scoured or nice and dry.

Snow snake was wind scoured up top with some windblown patches. Once I hit the tree line I had some top dry wind blown snow. It was worth the effort of taking the Canoes to see how they fared in this snow, they were great. I skinned back up to south of Shifty’s for more wind blown goodness. After finishing off my field work I had another skin up Mt Wheatley, this time I skied the backside, which was full of deep wind blown.

I think I have found a new BC circuit for myself, Snow Snake, South Shifty’s and Mt Wheatley Backside.
