Charlotte Pass 16th of October 2010
The forecasts of a low altitude dump came true, for Victoria. Here in the Snowys we were not so blessed, we got the low snow, but we didn’t get the dump. I awoke to snow on the car at home and low snow on the other side of the dam, but sadly the depth wasn’t there higher up. This system was southerly, so all of the remaining snowpack was only dust on crust and all of the new snow collected in previously bare aspects, but not deep enough to ski.
With the bad weather I bet on Charlotte Pass instead of heading to the Main Range. I had three quick runs, on below the old poma top tower ruin and one either side of the double. The first line below the ruin had some fresh, but quickly became dust on crust. The second line, west of the double was better with consistent fresh snow for most of the line. The third line, in a gully on the other side of the double was paydirt, boot deep snow for most of the line.

The October dump for 2010 was a bit of a disappointment, but I still got some freshies.
