Perisher 22nd & 23rd of August 2009

I knew there had been a week of rain and warm temps, but with the few centimetres of fresh which fell on Thursday night I did not see the impact until Sunday. The groomers were hard and fast to start and stayed that way all day. Early on there were some really nice drifts amongst the trees and down runs like Basinski. GS training in the morning was great fun and I've just started to feel comfortable in the gates. I even started blocking the gates, and since I don't own any protective equipment yet I'm still sporting a few bruises.

In the afternoon we skied over on Interceptor, the middle section was in fantastic nick and allowed us to really lay over some turns. On toppers down the bottom the Australian Mogul Championships were being held. There were some amazing skiers on show. I still can't believe some of the inverts they do in the bumps these days. Once I made my back to Perisher in the afternoon I saw just how much snow had been lost in the last week. I hoe the forecasted snow comes through otherwise we will have another early end to the season.

There was some more snow on Saturday night, but it was very wet and whilst good fun early soon turned into suction snow. Slalom training in the morning was good as well. I've started to feel confident in an SL course, and well bruised. I had so much fun I didn't take a single photo. Everyone pray for the coming system, we need it to be a big one.
