Perisher June Long Weekend 2010

Perisher was slower to open terrain today than I had hoped on Friday. The Idiot, Mitchell and the quad opened on Saturday, mainly for the Music Festival I think. Goats Gully was opened on Sunday and Happy Valley has yet to open. Front valley was in great nick and Perisher had fixed up the patches from Friday and Goats Gully was in poorer nick with lots of death cookies. Still this was the best opening weekend since 2004.

The Jindabyne ski swap was as busy as ever with some great bargains. I scored some GS poles, shin guards and a pair of Armada ARGs (reverse camber reverse sidecut, 133mm underfoot) for freshies days. I took the ARGs out on Sunday after I remounted them with a pair of Cobras. I took them out mainly due to new ski excitement and also to see how they handled firm snow. While I wouldn’t choose to ski them on firm snow they were manageable, not the disasters I expected them to be. I’ll post up a review once I have a couple of freshies days on them (I can't wait).

The forecast is looking dubious. I doubt there will be any more terrain open next weekend.
