Thredbo Telefarce 2010
Rocky, Kate and Pipo have organised an informal Tele Party for the 4th of September. No organisers, no money, just a bunch of telemarkers getting together for some fun on the slopes. If your planning on going skiing this weekend go to Thredbo, meet some new people and join in on the fun...more

28thof August 2010 - Armada ARG review
I’ve wanted to try a true funshape ski ever since the Volant Spatula came out, but sadly opportunities to ski such skis are few and far between in Australia. A couple of years ago I had the chance to ski Skifree’s DPS Lotus 120s which have an early rise tip, but are not a true funshape. At the Jindabyne Ski Swap this long weekend my funshape dreams came true...more

Perisher 25th of August 2010
Today was the day of the season, that is all I really need to say, but since I’m sure you would like more detail, here it is. I managed to finish my field work as the lifts started up at Smiggins. Link didn’t open until 9:00 so I had my first ever freshies day at Smiggins. There was 15cm to 20cm of dry, dry snow which was a joy to ski in, especially with the good visibility. I made my way over to International and had more great turns in the GS bowl...more

Perisher 21st & 22nd of August 2010
Another weekend of Race Training was disturbed by the recent snowfalls. High winds created conditions which were too dangerous for race training on Saturday, so we went free skiing instead. I had a ball on my GS skis proving you don’t need stupid fat skis, like the canoes to ski off piste, but they sure do make it more fun! The wind had been so strong it had dropped 10cm of snow inside the men’s Ski Tube toilets. Conditions were similar to Friday, but there were less wind scoured areas...more |

Perisher 20th of August 2010
Today was the snow was fantastic, if you knew where to look. There was plenty of windblown from the snow on Wednesday and Thursday, but the wind came from a South Westerly direction, leaving wind scoured ice where normally there are drifts and drifts in unusual places. Tony took the day off work and joined me for an epic day of freshies searching... more

14th of August 2010 - Mt P and Mt Wheatley
After hearing about the great turns James Morrow had on Oz BC yesterday I had to see how the line I skied with Tony and Scruff on Saturday (Snow Snake) had fared from the last snowfall. I was treated to another great sunrise whilst doing my field work. The groomers in Perisher were in good condition, but we still need some more snow to complete the cover...more |

Perisher Report 14th & 15th of August 2010
This weekends skiing was full of surprises. Perisher had some great weather on Saturday morning and the resort skiing looked pretty good as Tony, Scruff and I headed out for a slack country jaunt to Guthega via the Paralyser. The winds picked up through the day and the pistes we skied on the way home were the classic Aussie combination of sugary scraped man made snow with sheet ice in between...more.

14th of August 2010 - Mt P to Guthega via the South Paralyser
Tony Scruff and I were looking forward to a bit of BC skiing on Saturday, especially Scruff who had only skied on the resorts before. We were held up waiting to hire some AT skis for scruff and we only started skiing at 9:30 from Smiggins. We quickly got to the summit of Mt P and enjoyed the views. The snow was dry on Eyre and we were hoping for more than the frozen, crusty or softening conditions we expected. We were not disappointed...more |

6th & 7thof August 2010 - Perisher Report
Friday and Saturday were the Perisher and National Masters. SL was on Friday and GS was on Saturday but SG had been cancelled before the Sunday Dump. I skied much better in the SL on Lindner Run than I did last year. My combined time was still pretty poor since I was spat out of the first flush at the top of the course, but my second time was about half way through the field...more |

4th of August 2010 - Mt Wheatley Jaunt
I got up to Perisher early for my field work and was treated to another fantastic sun rise. I forgot my season pass and walked up to my study area near Perisher gap and came back via Mt Wheatley. I was treated to some great views on a picture perfect day. The ski back down was difficult due to the nasty breakable crust. I heard on the shady aspects of Mt Perisher the snow had frozen rock hard after the season started dump on the 1st....more

Perisher 30th of July to the 1st of August 2010
These last three days have been a story of big contrasts. On Friday I went up the hill to have some practice on my slalom skis before training on Saturday morning. The hill was busy when I got there due to the Interschools Southern Division GS and Skiercross events on Front Valley and Yabbie Flats. After a few runs down Mitchell I started to make my way over towards Mt P to avoid the crowds...more
